A former estate owned by Marjorie Merriweather Post, the heir of the Postum Cereal Company and founder of General Foods, the Mar-A-Lago is a historic property in Palm Beach, Florida. It was built in 1924 to 1927 and features 126 rooms and 110,000 square feet worth of land area.
The Mar-A-Lago used to host the annual, black-tie, International Red Cross Ball. The place became the where the wealthy elite and powerful figures from all over the world find themselves rubbing elbows with each other.
Declared as a National Historic Landmark in 1980, the Mar-A-Lago is now owned by wealthy businessman, Donald Trump, after buying the property for 10 million dollars. It is further improved and expanded from its original state, but still retains much of the original stature of the place. It is now the home of the Mar-A-Lago Club.
