The Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park is a historic site and state park in Cross Creek, Florida. It is best noted for being the home of Pulitzer Prize winning author and the ?First Floridian?, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings.
The Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park traces its history back to the 1890s when the house was built. It was acquired by Rawlings in 1928 with his then husband. She penned her first and Pulitzer Prize nominated novel, ?South Moon Under? here, as well as her Pulitzer winning ?The Yearling?. Even after her divorce to her first husband, she continued to use the house as a retreat, until her death in 1953.
The Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park is open all year round. Tours of the house are given on Thursdays through Sundays.
