Got a Job offer in Danali

To be the tech specialist for a Hotel in Denali. It seems like it's going to be a blast, but I had a couple of questions.

Is there nothing to do up there? I was told it's like an entire state of small towns.

I've been told the all night all day thing can drive you nuts, how do you deal with it?

What's the average pay for a tech position in Alaska?

I spent a summer working in a hotel up there, just a warning, stay away from the foreign kids. It's all drugs, and late nights, unless that's what you're after. I was there in the summer when it was day all day, and that will drive you nuts too. I would stumble out of one of the foreign kids rooms, and 2am looked like 2pm. It was nuts.

A tech specialist of what kind?? If you're talking computers, not much. You can expect to make $12-$15/hr. If you do better than that, it is unusual (unless you're talking a govt position).

what draws people here is the adventure, the experience, and the chance to live where there are not too many people. those who move here do so knowing that they will not make near what they made in the lower 48, but its worth it not to have the hustle and bustle of that life and to have time to enjoy themselves.

That right there is enough to move there. The wife
and I have talked about it, but need to look in to what
an RN makes up there.

The pay never makes up for the extra cost of living up here. Basically you have to be nuts to live up here, either that or to poor to get out.
