Moving to Anchorage in October

Getting ready to head up to Anchorage, more specifically Elmendorf AFB. married with 2 young kids. Just curious on the area. Trying to figure out a good place to live at in the area.
The school area, which one would be the best for kids, education system and athletics.
What there is to do in the area? Grown up, and kids styles.
The good places to eat at and nice bars to relax at (not clubs).
If there is anything else that I forgot, please feel free to post it, thanks

Stay away from Mountian View and Fairview as places to live. It seems the further south you go in Anchorage the better the schools get. There are plenty of things to do adult and family orientated your budget and your imagination are your only limits. We have a wide selection of restaurants from fine dining (The Crows Nest) to little hole in the wall cafes (Harley's Olde Time Cafe) and even more bars.
