Trip to Alaska

While posting here on best way to see Alaska a friend sent me an idea.
Traveling to Alaska on motorcycles? Anyone ever done this ?

To go into & out of the lower half I suppose boat & than by boat out or up to Valdez or are there any good roads from Canada up?

You can take the ferry through the inside passage to Valdez making stops along the way. If you get a round trip ticket I believe you can get off at each stop.

The AlCan is paved the entire distance, just remember summer time is roadwork time. There are really only two seasons up here, Winter and Construction Get yourself a copy of the Milepost and go for it.

The prettiest trip is probably the Western route through Burns and Dease Lake, as it winds through the coastal mountains.

Thanks for that bit of info. I believe I'll choose the construction season instead of the winter.

Just make sure you have enough gas to make it to the next station - which may be a tank and a bit away depending on when you travel. Agree with the post above about getting the milepost.

My mom and brother went on a guided hunt for moose. I hear it is amazing.
