This is a funny post, simply because me and my father have been dreaming up ways for regular people to get off the grid. We were thinking of a small windmill setup that could at least take off some of the burden. I however was sadly mistaken when I read of some practical applications of small wind powered turbines. I read a website that had an electrical engineer that designed and built a small turbine for powering his "camp site" in rural Arizona. Don't get your hopes up, because this setup barely powered his laptop charger!
