These dirt roads out here grow canyons under the flashfloods. They come down the dirt road about 6" or 8" just RIPPING and goes by like a freight train then fades out after 20 mins back to a trickle then gone. Takes a car right with it too.
whenever you're out on the desert and you see this, (see pic) and you're down stream . . . better get to high ground cause the flash is ON THE WAY!!! BTW taken today 7/10 just a few mins before posting
Just be grateful you get to know your weather in advance. In Oregon the TV weather is regarded as a great source of amusement.
Last evening I listened to every word of doubletalk & hedging one local weatherman offered as his "forecast" for today. He showed the radar indicated nothing at all but added small micro-climate misty drizzle might hit here & there but not amount to anything worth mentioning. He wasted ten minutes saying it wouldn't rain enough to bother anyone.
By 6AM it was pouring.
Every Portland weather person should be stationed in a small boat 50 miles offshore with a radio.
