American-made dolls

I suspect that Donald Trump has no idea that there are no vinyl doll manufacturers in the United States. So I have been looking on the Internet, particularly etsy, to see what dolls are made in the US.
As many of you know, I have collected Barbie dolls for years. On only a few occasions in the early 1970s have Barbies been made in the US. The countries for Barbie manufacturing have been, with the exception of a few dolls made in Mexico in the early 1970s, are all in Asia: Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, the Philippines, China, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. There are Barbies made in India specifically for the Indian market (I have a few of them), plus Barbies made in Brazil and Argentina specifically for those countries
You can find handmade clothing for every size of doll, 6 inches to 36 inches, all over the Internet. These are not companies but rather individuals sewing them.
The only dolls made in the United States now are cloth or porcelain.

Porcelain dolls in the US

The porcelain dolls you see for sale in stores before Christmas with old-fashioned dresses and tons of hair are made in China. The ones you see at doll shows are created by people who have their own kilns and ways to buy resin and clay. These dolls are very expensive. Here are some links to some that I found.

You will notice that many contemporary handmade porcelain dolls are kind of creepy. I have no idea why people make these kinds of dolls.

cloth dolls

Here are some of the cloth doll makers I have found on etsy. I've also learned a new word, amigurumi, which means small knitted or crocheted toy in Japanese.

These are just some of what I have found on etsy. I search for dolls that are at least $25. That is because I suspect that the ones that cost less than that, and are available in large quantities, were made in Asia and being resold as handmade in the United States.
