Read The Journeyer by Gary Jennings.
All about Marco Polo's lustful adventures in the near and far east.
I really enjoyed it. It's very racist, sexist and entertaining.
I have a few copies. If you want to read it I'll mail you one.
My 21 year old son just read it. His comments was along the lines of "A lot of weird sex, but a lot of fun to read. I don't know how he got away with some of the stuff he wrote".
A good part of the story takes place in the court and empire of Kublai Khan. China, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Tibet, Nepal, Afghanistan, Turkey. It's a pretty sweeping portrait of that part of the world in years gone by written in a totally politically incorrect fashion
"The greatest happiness is to vanquish your enemies, to chase them before you, to rob them of their wealth, to see those dear to them bathed in tears, to clasp to your bosom their wives and daughters."
I'm reading decision points, George W Bush's sort-of autobiography. It mainly just outlines the biggest decisions he made and why he made them. Although it does give you a good bit of background on how he grew up, going to school, etc.
Kindles are amazing, by the way!

I want to read that. I saw the interview (4th rated that night, was beat by a basic cable show and every other network, this is history, and important, America would rather watch the Biggest Loser, Arghh.), and was impressed. I've not always agreed with his decisions, but I like him as a person.

I definitely agree. I didn't agree with everything he did either. However, you can't deny that he's an incredibly educated man and I still respect him very highly. He had the toughest job in the world in one of the United States' most defining moments.
I like it particularly because he even pokes fun at himself - a sign of a good man.

I just got done reading "The Things They Carried." It's a series of stories about Vietnam that all tie in together. Really moving book. I have been threatening to pick up a copy of American Assassin, but seeing as how the waiting list for it at the library is 17 people long, I am going to buy it this weekend.

I'm half way through the third book in David Gemmell's trilogy about Troy.
Excellent read for anyone that likes historical fiction and ancient Greece.
Love, comedy, tragedy, bloody battle scenes, it has it all.
Very escapist and entertaining reading.
