I've made few of these at home. My trick is to use a frozen doughnut and then heat it on the griddle like the first photo. Fun for college kids and kids sleep overs....

Clever, I would have thought to try it at home, seems simple enough. How did yours turn out?
They used to make these at Mulligan's in Oakhurst, supposedly they were the first. Chandler, the owner, was on the Tonight show maybe 4-5 years ago showing how to make that and the Hamdog. They were also featured in Maxim at some point.
