If you live in Cetral texas you must fish!

My youngest just joined the Cub Scouts. We have gone fishing before, but he needs the practice. He did well, while he's not landing lunkers, he enjoyed the seemingly ENDLESS supply of small small-mouth bass and sunfish.

Backside of Mary Moore Searight park. There's a walking/biking path that runs along the creek.

It's about 5min from my house so I figured he can practice here and prep him for the bigger, better waterways in spring.

I miss hitting the local creeks and rivers. What's the name of the river?

Colorado River.
Downtown, it's called Town Lake, or Lady Bird Lake.
It's underrated as an urban fishery.

My neighbor loves to fish... He has the boat, etc. But he doesn't eat em. So every so often we get a big batch of freshly caught, cleaned and filleted fish...

Personally, I can't stand to fish. But he does it in the larger freshwater rivers around here and also down at the coast.

Town lake is actually a VERY popular Carp fishing spot. I frequent texasfishingforums.com and they have a carp section there with what gear you need and where to fish.

I fished a lot of carp in San Angelo Texas, so I've had my fill of that.

I am a picky eater, I prefer Crappy and white bass. I have eaten so much catfish in my youth that I will avoid that, but I do love fishing for yellow cats

We used to fish whatever the creek that Sculpture Falls is.

Used to catch nice sized Guadalupe Bass, would sein for minnows and catch them on live bait. Not much luck with the fly rod.

I tried fishing on the Frio last week with live bait and could not snag any bass or perch even though I could visually see them.
