I never realized what great fishing Fayette Lake had. It's a bit of a drive from Austin, but one of the best bass lakes in Texas from what I understand.

How old are your kids?
6 and 7. Soon to be 7 and 8. They aren't ready for any big trips yet, but they will be soon. If they prove themselves to be well behaved, the rifle range is next.

As long as they are actually catching them...about 30-45min. Beyond that, they will still want to throw them back in for about 20min after that.

If the fish aren't biting, they are wondering around.

I think I'm going to hold off till she gets older. I would be grateful for 30 minutes of fishing though, so we'll see.

You may try fishing under the 360 bridge on Lake Austin. I have had some good luck there. Seems like they like the nightcrawlers there the best. If you can get a canoe or kayak and move down the river just a little ways there are some lights that bring the fish in big time.

I'll hit it up when I'm out that direction next. I've been unsuccessful in that area before.

A kids park with a large lake for kayaking and canoeing. They have decent fishing their with showings by LM Bass, crappie, cats, and carp. Nice area and good place to briing kids for the day.
