I have relatives (mother's family) that live in and around Brisbane. My cousin in Redland Bay said she was fine. Don't know about the rest of the family. Have lost contact with them over the years. I hope you and your family stay safe and dry, Screwy

Weeeeelllll, yes atm. Flooding is all done, but the wet is tapering off as usual. Days are magic 68?F - 86?F with around 2 rain days per week, thats all.

C'mon down, beaches are now all safe and the weather is perfect for visiting places like the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast, Noosa, Rainbow Beach and Fraser Island. Winters here in the south of my state of Queensland range from min of 32?F in the inland highlands to 45?F on the coast. To the North the climate is much warmer, winter is the perfect time to visit the Great Barrier Reef and places like Cairns and Port Douglas.

Cheers,

Screwy

Good luck mate!
The city of Toowoomba: YouTube users capture Toowoomba flooding - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Brisbane and surrounds: Queensland devastated by floods

The attached four photos show how quickly the floods happened on a farm at Helidon on Monday 10.01.2011.
There has never been water on this cultivation before.
Lockyer Creek runs behind the cultivation.
The times on the photos say it all.
The farm is upstream from Grantham which got the full force of this creek, and another creek (Flagstone Creek) which joins into it just before Grantham.

The wet season for Queensland is pretty much over for 2011, wettest in 100 years, lets hope it's another 100 before we see the likes of this again. Probably drought next

It's all dry again so c'mon down.

Screwy

Oh mama! Very educational series of pics. We don't really get that kind of stuff where I live, so I'm guessing that would pretty well qualify as a flash flood almost anywhere.

Was the last shot taken from a boat?

PS - Australia is on my must see list. Need more money in the bank to do it right. Hopefully in a couple of years....

Riponred, think by the look of that last shot it's just a zoomed/telephoto shot of the second last one. Flash flood, well kind of! way more rain fell in a short period than ever previously recorded. I know folk who have lived on the bank of that creek for 40 years, and it's rarely had more than a trickle in it. That's mother nature.

Great, see you in a couple of years! Put aside plenty of time it's a bloody big place

That's why I need to wait a bit and build up the dinero fund. I want to do it right. I'm not a big fan of two week bus tours

Cheers Screwy!
