swoosh sound from nearby objects

I have wondered this all my life and have NEVER seen it mentioned ANYWHERE.
In a moving car, when the passenger side window is open, and you pass a large nearby stable object, such as a parked car, you hear a swoosh noise. What causes that sound?

I think you're hearing a reflection of the sound made by your tires and your car's engine noise. The noises generated by your car bounce off the relatively-flat face of roadside objects and are directed back toward you. You should notice that this effect is more prominent with larger objects, objects closer to your car, and objects with very flat faces.

It's a riff on the doppler effect - if you listen you'll also hear the pitch change

Thank you very much. I've wondered about that for decades.
