NOt to dampen your spirits but a reality check on employment in Bend is
called for.

Bend is one of the more expensive housing markets in the USA.

Bend is not friendly to businesses. Most have move out including
Cessna.

Wages are low and are justified by the emplioyers saying that low
wages are are part of the price of livinng in a great recreationh areas.
They refer to this as poverty with a view.

There are a few good companies here.

I wish there were more manufacturing in Bend. The primary emplioyer is
government.

Do your research before you move here. Get a job first!!!!

I would have to agree, especially on the last point of getting a job in the town you intend to move to before you move there. Unfortunately my best friend moved into what was supposed to be a very promising market elsewhere and has been stuck without a job for months.

I am not aware of anyone hiring in that industry right now in Bend, and those who are bringing in people are using temps who seem to have a short lifespan.

I personally have some faith that the markets will improve enough in the spring that some companies will be looking to trade out clock milkers for people who really want to work. So I'd suggest dropping resumes and make as many contacts as you can, especially if you know someone already working at a location.
