Hah. I drove out to Lancaster today, and I guess they and Palmdale consider themselves more the High Desert then the Victor Valley does..

I have family in Ridgecrest. I have been visiting that town since 1970. Does that count too?

Spent some time installing vinyl tops on cars of the 70's era, in and around the bay area, Concord/Walnut Creek, Pittsburgh, Antioch, Oakley etc.. I also spent time working as a carpenter down there back in 79-81 before ultimately returning to the Seattle area. Loved the weather, hated the traffic!

My parents built a custom house out in Apple Valley and lived there for about 15 years. I visited a lot and really liked the area (I love the desert). I was hoping to eventually inherit that house and even pass it on to my kids as it had sentimental value to me. My mom passed a few years ago and my dad re-married and sold that house and moved up north.

I grew up in Ridgecrest. If it doesn't count for high desert then I don't know it it really counts for anywhere

Done some camping in the areas, that is about all. There ARE some really nice trails though! Watch for sharp rocks though. Sidewalls you know....
