Well I think we can finally say that winter has arrived here in Calgary, along with all the slow moving traffic and the accidents along Deerfoot Trail. How has everyone been fairing with the weather that we have had so far?
I'm lucky, retired 3 yrs ago so I get to stay in. Weather is cold!!! Cleaning sidewalks has been my get out thing. I have a few older neighbors who have trouble getting out in this weather so I help them out as well.
I don't live there, but I did have a WONDERFUL visit during the 1988 winter Olympics. You folks have a clean beautiful city, filled with really nice people (keeping in mind I live between New York and Philadelphia, not so clean or friendly) I remember it being gosh darn cold in February, and I remember eating the best steak I ever had in a local restaurant. So if any of you folks were part of the Olympic volunteer crew, I'll repeat my thanks for all you did in 1988, all my memories of Calgary were good ones.
Thanks for the nice comments about Calgary. I think it's a great place as well. I was working at several of the sites at that time, they were all very well organized and well staffed.
Most of the sites are still being maintained and updated.
