I have not been winter camping in a few years ( time allowances) but I certainly enjoy doing that. As long as you have a good sheltered spot and such you can be quite comfortable. Also it is really nice and quiet in the winter in the mountains.

I just dug a snow cave each night, put down my ground cloth, and climbed into my sleeping bag.
Keeping the entrance to the lee side, and digging down, its amazingly warm.
There was just 2 of us on that trip.

I've only been winter camping twice and really enjoyed it both times.
We build a big lean-to against a rock face to reflect a huge blaze.
It's pretty snug. The trick is to go overboard on laying in the firewood.

I learned a good trick to overcome early October rains in PA near the Appalachian Trail. I build my fire 8 to 10 ft. in front of two trees. I angle a tarp attached to the trees facing the fire. Under the tarp I hand a reflective space blanket.
The fire warms the front of me and the blanket reflects heat to my rear. Once I have hot coals I build a pyramid of wet logs above the fire. Even if it pours that fire will never go out. I've sat shirtless in shorts with temps around freezing.

Camping is around the corner.
Being in Quebec, I've been going to Mont Tremblant National park since I was a teen. Gorgeous place.
Lately with family, I've been going to Long Sault in Ontario. It's closer and less rural. Gotta keep the missus happy

People in Ontario were nicer to us over a number of trips than anywhere I've been in the states.

Between Kingston & Smith's Falls seemed solidly rural.

Here in Quebec, you must wear a life-jacket to sleep!
Amazing how it's so dry there and so wet here.
