blucher, i just shows had a BIT of reality in them myself.
Like that show cops, how they always catch the people.
In reality more get away than they catch, thats according to the BC northern regional manager himself.
He said the people that run know they stand a good chance of escaping.
That in the case of a chase they average just 27% capture rates.
So why on the show do not 3 out of 4 get away.
I realize in more crowded areas its easier to catch more, but in the BC interior a guy say on a dirt bike being chased unless an idiot, will not be caught.
If it was real, I would maybe watch more than 2 episodes, get bored and never watch again.

I know but "Cops" is Fox so we should be grateful it's at all realistic. A bike in your Province is almost certain to escape if it's rider has a plan or two prepared.

Down in LA they use enough helicopters that escape is no cinch. Running around backyards while lit up like the noonday sun can't help. Last Fall a cop at a shore community was shot and the shooter escaped on foot into the coast range mountains. They may still be looking for him.

No need to even plan an escape here.
And as for helicopters, it takes them about 40 mins minimum to even get it out, and ready and a pilot, then it has to take off.
Plus they are only in more major areas, so are spaced very far apart.
There are more backroads than paved miles of road in BC to.
The cops I know get so frustrated, that basically they say if someone starts to try and run they follow for about 1 minute, if the driver/rider has any speed or skill at all, they know to just stop, and they do.
Its pointless to chase someone who will get away anyways, and you could cause a collision by dangerous passing etc in the mean time while you chase them.

Much more sensible than what we see all too often. Cops loved their Crown Vics because they could chase & catch almost anyone. The problem was that they too often totaled a civilian or two doing it.

How long till Onstar is put in every new car with it's capability to shut off your engine?
