None that i can think of, central coast is pretty limited for 4wheeling, mostly just dirt roads.

Two places that are light duty 4x4 areas, but peaceful and not crowded and geologically unique. Tumey Hills and Panoche Hills. Both can be entered from either Hwy 5 or from Hwy 25 via panoche road. Also, Clear Creek is open to travel through it on the main road.

Both Panoche and Tumey have roads along ridge lines that, in places are only 10' wide or less and very, very steep on both sides.

Go to the BLM web site for more info and better directions.

...also, the roads are now marked with signs, P1, P2, etc. for Panoche and TU1, TU2, etc. for Tumey. There are gates you have to open and close as you pass through them as this land is leased out for grazing.

If you're into guns, it legal to target shoot anywhere in these locations, just clean up after and don't shoot glass objects.

Like I said in previous post, these places are geologically unique and carry many marine fossils. These are the sites of prehistoric shallow seas.

Foggy, but you can see on the left how sheer it is. Some of the ridges are steep, narrow and sheer on both sides

Not really close to SoCal. This is about 20 miles south of Los Banos off I5. I'm in Hollister, Ca and its 50 miles east of me via Panoche Rd.
