Displaced Pittsburgh Fans! (or any displaced hockey fans) The Charlotte Checkers AHL team is not the same, but really is the next best to seeing your favorite NHL team. We go to see the baby Pens (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins) and know some of the players due to the injury / replacement moves during the regular season. Of course you could drive to Raleigh and catch your team when they play the Hurricane....about 2 -1/2 hour drive.

Never been a big hockey guy but even I love checkers games. Can't recommend them enough. Great bargIn in the city
