I agree, Weiner Circle really let me down the first time I tried it. My friends from the area had hyped it up, and as a new transplant I was ready and willing, but I was quite disappointed.
Derek Dougs at 711 W Armitage just recently catered at a recent party. They had these excellant dogs with curry and shallots. Not sure if this is on their everyday menu but if it is, its worth checking out.
I don't know. I'm old fashioned Chicago style hot dog. My grandfather used to take us to Jr's hot dogs every time my parents pawned us off on him. And I must say that to this day, they are the best in my opinion.
hot dougs! where you can get a perfect example of the chicago hot dog and as a bonus get a gourmet sausage like rattlesnake or alligator. i agree that the duck fat fries are friggin great.

I had the same experience. Way over hyped imo.
For a good hotdog Weiner Take All in Buffalo Grove is very good if you're ever in the area.
