Try the Original Jim's for Maxwell Street polish sausage, pork chop sandwiches, etc. They are located on Union Street just south of Roosevelt Road- right along the Ryan.

Philly's Best in Greek Town. Not quiet Southside but close enough. Jim's Original is good but they always get something wrong on my order.

For beef (or hot dogs), there's Chickie's at 2839 S. Pulaski. It's my second favorite beef in the Chicago area, next to Johnnie's.

For ribs? Uncle John's on 69th, just East of MLK. Also, Lem's on 311 E. 75th Street, or Barbara Ann's on 75th and Cottage Grove. I've found myself at Lem's many a time after a long night out--they close at 2 a.m. most nights.

The steak tacos as well as the crispy potato tacos at Zacatacos on 59th and Pulaski are perhaps my favorite in the city. If you're more in an al pastor sort of mood, check out the Atotonilco outpost on 26th Street just east of Pulaski.

+1. This was my go-to place for a late-night milkshake and cheese fries for a while back in the day.

Jansen's on 99th and Western was consistently good when I was a kid.

Wojo's on 99th and Pulaski has some decent food, and more milkshake flavor options than anyone would ever need. Not the greatest shakes, but at least you had options...

Damn, now I'm gonna have to go get a couple dogs tonight. No good places up in Avondale though...

Harold's...you gotta do Harold's. Most people go for the chicken (what they are known for) but try the perch. It's soooo good!

Harold's chicken that is. Google it. It's a chain.
