Help finding the right spot

Need some ideas. Looking for areas west of Boulder where the family can take the F250 off road far enough to be in National Forest land so we can shoot, can find an area to set up tent camp for a night or so. Want to get away from the crowds at the park campsites. The whole family loves to shoot so it would be ideal if we could shoot from the campsite or close to it.

Any places you have been that fit the bill?

Looking forward to your replies and most of all looking forward to SUMMER!!!

Thanks!!

Jeeping to Creede
We took advantage of the last week before schools starts by getting out of town for some camping. We had always wanted to drive from Silverton to Creede over Stony Pass and camp along the way. I didn't take very many photos because it was raining for much of the drive. There was one place where the road was flooded from beavers building a dam. Jay got out and waded in it to make sure we could cross. The rangers at the Forest Service office in Creede said that the county had already cleaned out that beaver dam twice recently.

Carnage Canyon. Buena Vista, CO
It took our group of four 8.5 hours to do the 1 mile trail.

This is the only place I had to winch on the trail.

That looks more like a waterfall without the water than a trail
