Best Connecticut area Family Hikes

Connecticut has lots of great places to hike.
Where are you favorites that are easy enough to take young children?

Lantern Hill

Lantern Hill in North Stonington is pretty family friendly. There are some nice views from the top, this includes a pretty good view of Foxwoods Casino as the hill is on the Mashantucket land.

My parents used to take me to a place called Devil's Den when I was younger. I think it is in or around Weston, in Fairfield county.

Heublein tower trail in Simsbury is a good time. Part of it overlooks the state police firing range which is quite entertaining.

Gay City

Gay City is a great place for hiking. The terrain is mostly flat and has beautiful views. Watch for Mountain Bikers.

My wife and I took our dog to Lake Wintergreen State Park a few weeks back. They had some good trails there. A lot of families were there, and it's pet-friendly too.

I liked Kent falls. Sometimes we just bundle the kids up and take them to the pier at calf pasture

I love going to the White Memorial conservation center, tons of trails there. It's right up the road from Mt. Tom on 202 in Litchfield.

Done this hike before... its tough in the begining, but the view is worth it... plus you can go to the top of the tower and get an amzing view of hartford, county and beyound. There might be another way up that is more easy... but overall, not bad!! Its quick, but steep at some parts.
