Greenwich is Grenitch?

I just moved here and have a hard time with town names, the locals are laughing, why is it there a silent w in Greenwich but not in Norwich?

I dont know why they pronounce it the way they do but I thank God for places like it where people rip down 10 million dollar mansions to put up 20 million dollar mansions and feel they have to one up the Jones' next door with even more complex stairways cause other then these very complex stairs there really isnt much buisness anymore. I use to make my money slamming out 3 or 4 normal stairs a day but since the economy tanked I make my money on a stair that takes about 2 weeks total but is much more back breaking work. Stuff like this and much more intricate.

Built with rail, about $12,000. We dont do any staining or painting and I have no idea what installation cost is, just a mere shop grunt!

I lived in Wichita KS and there is a Greenwich Rd. You get made fun of there if you pronounce it Grenich
