Scuba Diving in DFW area

Hey, how many of you have told yourself, "I'm getting scuba certified this year!" and you still have not done it?

What are some good areas in DFW for scuba diving? Any interesting sights?

Ever been to Canyon Lake to see the underwater ghost town?

There's a scuba park in Athens east of Dallas that has some pretty interesting things to see. There are planes and vehicles and other things to look at. Visibility can be sketchy but it's a fun place for a check out dive.

It does not take up as much time as you think. Some dive shops offer weekend courses where you can be Open Water certified in 2 weekends.

Starting in February, DiveMonster Scuba will be offering weekend courses for321.00. Not bad for a hobby that will let you see the other 70% of the planet

I have not been to Canyon Lake, but it sounds amazing! I'll have to organize a trip I think!

Lake Murray in Oklahoma has some fairly good diving. It's a spring fed lake so visibility isn't too bad. It's about 70 milles north of the DFW area. And what's really nice is that it's free to dive! There are several boats sunk in the cove at Marietta Landing where most divers do shore entry
