For any national Forest shooting, you have to be at least 1/4 mile of the main road, and then shoot away.

Actually, you have to be 150 yds off the road, and you can't shoot across roads, trails, water, or towards buildings or people.

Public pay as you go outdoor range over in Cherry Creek. When I lived in CO, was a member of the Ben Lomond Gun Club. Range is just East of Kiowa. Reasonable dues, 8 hr per year work committment (cleaning range, nailing up target holders, policing brass) It is a bit out of the way, but it IS a 500 acre+ range- room to shoot anything short of artillery. Link for ya- BLGC Home Page PS- you need to be member NRA.

I like the range at Cherry Creek State Park. You will pay less in range fees than you would for gas to many of the areas mentioned and I can do Skeet, Pistol, and Rifle all in one visit. A great well managed facility and here is there web site: Family Shooting Center - Home Page
