Closest Place to Ski - Florida

Are there any places within driving distance (from FL) worth skiing? I'm thinking 16 hour drive or less from north Florida -- like the Carolinas or Tennessee.

Beech and Sugar mountain in NC. Search North Carolina snow skiing.

I am surprised we don't have any indoor ski slopes in Florida yet. There was talk of one being planned near Tampa, but nothing seems to have come of it. You'd think that they'd be insanely popular in our state!

Hm... since they are still pretty rare in the U.S., maybe Disney should get on that and build one, but then a one-say pass would probably be like $200.
