I wanted to put together The List of great places in South Florida to enjoy craft and import beers.

After two grueling years of extensive field research, you will now benefit as I put all of this information at your fingertips.

I want this to be a comprehensive list of all things beer in Florida to an extent. I will not add any establishment that offers less that 51% Craft, Micro etc.

I look forward to any and all feedback. If you have other categories you think I should add let me know.

* This is pretty outta date but hope it helps anyone vsiting south FL or anyone just getting into craft beer that is stuck in south FL *

Best Carry out:

■Total Wine
Boca, FTL and Pembroke Pines –
Always a huge selection and the cheapest prices.

■Crown Wine & Spirits #5
1030 Northeast 15th Avenue Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304 (954) 358-9463
Manager is a great lady and she is a huge craft beer maniac…..cold craft/import beer everywhere.

■Whole Foods Market
Pick a location, some better than others. All managers in “specialty” seem to have an understanding of good beer, not to mention the ability to order it.

■67 Liquor Shop in Lighthouse Point
A.K.A International Beer Depot
5360 N Federal Hwy 7006 Lighthouse Point, FL Phone: (954) 428-6255
Large selection and the staff responds to your beer needs.

■BX Beer Depot
2964 Second Avenue North - Lake Worth, FL 33461 Phone: 561-965-9494
Visit Friday for a trip to the Tiki Hut. Good people and a nice beer cave….not to mention home brew supplies, your only south Florida LBHS.

■Crown Wine & Spirits #7
1320 North Federal Highway, Pompano Beach, FL - (954) 941-2608.
O.K. selection but really limited on space.

Slacking on Carry Out:

■ABC
You pick the location, FTL, Pompano, Coral Springs, Sawgrass….etc.
Selection has dropped to almost nothing….two managers in different locations confirmed that “due to the economy” they are making cutbacks on craft/import beer.

■Cellars Wine & Spirits Warehouse
1739 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, 954-764-4764
I went there because of an old write up in the Sun Sentential… Got beer? Not so much anymore.

Best In house drinking:

■The Lodge
200 South Federal Highway - Boca Raton, FL 33432 - (561) 392-5003
Great rotating tap selection, covers craft to import from Oskar Blues and Weyerbacher to Unibroue and St. Bernardus. Very solid bottle selection. Excellent “Bar” food.

■Brother Tuckers
3332 East Atlantic Boulevard - Pompano Beach, FL 33062-5705 - (954) 785-1984
Great Belgian selection and the draft choices are always fantastic for only four taps...the food is always superb.

■The Funky Buddah & Brewery
2621 North Federal Highway Boca Raton, FL 33431-7785 - (561) 368-4643
Great selection of craft on draft, usually have one of the big Dogfish Head’s like WWS or Fort. Big old bottle collection. Hookahs and Kava are offered as well. Can’t wait till their original creations are on tap.

■Original Fat Cat's
320 SW Second St. - Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312 - (954) 467-5867
Nice draft selection and as well as bottles. Had an ice cold Victory Prima Pils when it first made it down to south FL. Also I have two words for you: Don Singleton. Enough said.

■The Mellow Mushroom
25 SE 6th Ave - Delray Beach, Florida 33483 - (561) 330-3040
50 Beers on tap and 50 bottles to choose from, not to mention the great pizza. An amazing Happy hour: Monday night from 7-11 is 50% off drafts Not select drafts…...but all drafts.

■Coffee District
325 NE 2nd Avenue #104 - Delray Beach, FL 33444 - (561) 455-0541
6 Taps and over 100 bottles to choose from. Beer Tasting Social & Home Beer Brewing night is great and hopefully it inspires at least one new home brewer with each session.

■PRL Euro Caf?
1904 Hollywood Boulevard - Hollywood, FL 33020 - (954) 922-9775
Usually a nice draft selection and tons of bottles. A bit smoky but not overpriced and very laid back. Na zdrowie(cheers).

■Stage 84
9118 W State Road 84 - Davie, FL 33324 - (954) 474-5040
The official Holy Mackerel Tap House. A few other tasty micro’s on draft.

■Yard House
Palm Beach Gardens and Coral Gables
100 + draft beers on tap! What’s not to love about that? Happy hour is the best time to go for reduced drink prices and some amazing food.

■L & L Market Bisto – Elle’s
11338 Miramar Pkw - Hollywood, FL 33025 - (954) 437-0071
The food here is just amazing, finding a beer to pair with your meal is no problem.

Honorable mentions(or this list will never end)

■Tryst
4 East Atlantic Avenue Delray Beach - FL 33444 - (561) 921-0201

■The Office
201 East Atlantic Avenue - Delray Beach, FL 33444 - (561) 276-3600

■The Duck Tavern

■THE DRB (The Democratic Republic of Beer)

Best Brew Pubs:

■Big Bear Brewing Company
1800 North University Drive - Coral Springs, FL 33071 - (954) 341-5545
Food is phenomenal and the service is great….oh and also there are six or seven great beers to try that brew right on site.

■Corner caf? and brewery
289 S. US Highway 1 - Tequesta, FL 33469 - (561) 743-7619
Great craft draft at a nice price. The experimental draft has blown me away every time.

■Brewzzi
2222 Glades Road - Boca Raton, FL 33431 - (561) 392-2739
Had a flight of their offerings and they are very decent.

The one, the only Dan the beer guy has turned me on to a ton of great spots. He probably has a video review on almost every place I have mentioned here.

Titanic Brewery is the Best place I have been to. Their house beers are always excellent. Their Double IPA is my Favorite. Also, the food is exceptional. Their fish and chips dish excellent. They actually make their potato skins instead of fries like every where else I've been. Also the quick stop next door has a great selection to pick up a few brews to take home.

The Abbey is really good too, but kinda out of the way for me. I used to go there every week when I had a place to stay at the beach. Now, I don't really go out there because the drive back is brutal. But they have excellent brews. Food, I suggest you eat before or after. Not a lot of choices for food. But once again. The atmosphere is EXCELLENT and the employees and patrons are always friendly.

I would also recommend Sunset Tavern. They have a really good selection.
Also 8 Ounce Burger has a pretty good selection of different microbrews. Haven't really been to too many places, but my pics are Titanic, 8oz burger, and Sunset Tavern!!

Sunset Tavern and Titanic are in South Miami. Not too far from each other. The 8oz burger is in Miami Beach/South Beach, whatever people call it.

Another 'dog friendly' bar is the Dubliner Pub in Boca Ratons Mizner Park. If your dog is lucky, the manager will bring out a bit of sheppards pie for your pooch. They have the best Irish pub food around and a good selection of import beers on tap. Live music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights too.

BX Beer Depot, Lake Worth. A tiny little place that sells mostly kegs and beer/winemaking equipment, but they have a few refrigerators full of top quality craft beers. And on Friday and Saturday nights they have a tiki hut out back to hang with some good beer and live music.
