Tumble weeds can be big enough that one can fill a bed of a full size pickup truck.

For sure.
They are BIG, and ask my wife how loud they are when they blow into the side of the car while driving.
Dented the door in, and scratched about 50% or more of the left side if the car.
Had to get it to a body shop for repairs.
Scared the crap outta my wife and kids to.

A local guy was killed here, i think it was 3 summers ago ( guessing) by a tumbleweed.
Several eye witnesses saw what happened, he was riding down a secondary highway, and a tumbleweed hit him from the side, and knocked him off the road.
He went down a steep gulley, about 60 feet deep and impacted a tree, killing him instantly.
Very tragic to say the least.

We have the same problem with pumpkins and they frighten the moose.

25 Dead In Alabama one of the most insane storms I've seen in a while . Live in Trussville and had newspaper from Tuscaloosa in the yard. We are not close at all wow
