Montrose is growing still, with 24 K persons here now. A bit conservative, as it was/is a base for ag and sheep and cows and cowboys. There is no forest here, so no chance for forest fires, but it is a very short drive to Ridgeway, Ouray, and the forests of the great Rockies. Homes can be had for as little as 35K and yet there are very rich homes too. We have a giant Walmart, Home Depot, two little hardware stores, lots of restaurants, and some fun things happening. The senior center is active, art and music groups are busy, sports groups and fishing/hunting groups. In summers we have Thursday night celebrations on Mainstreet. Temps are milder than grand Junction and we get little snow in winter. Sunny most days of the year. Towns north of us grow fruits, veges, grains, beef.
