Best Place to Find Good Beer

Not trying to advertise, I'm just a guy who likes good beer and would like to see others spreading the love. If you find a place with good, cold, tasty brews, pass it on.

In no particular order:
-Packaged:
-Grape and Gourmet: 4000 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23452, (757) 486-9463. Great selection of all kinds of beers, luckily not specializing in anything too local. If you're homesick for the left coast selections you love, this is the place to find em.

-Total Wine and More: 931 W 21st St., Norfolk, VA 23517, (757) 627-9172.

-Any local Farm Fresh has a pretty decent selection, and I dig their Make-Your-Own-Six-Pack deal, (but apparently they don't like it when you take one of each and don't end up with something perfectly divisible by 6).
-On Tap:
-The Bier Garden: 438 High St, Portsmouth, VA 23704, (757) 393-7333. Great selection (300+) beers from around the world, specializing in German and Belgian. Friendly waitstaff and good goulash.

-Regal Beagle Tap House: 605 Virginia Beach Boulevard, Virginia Beach, VA 23451, (757) 428-4695. Great little workingman's taphouse with plenty of beers in bottles, plenty on tap, and a knowledgeable barman who can point you in the right direction.

-Tap House Grill at Ghent: 931 W 21st St., Norfolk, VA 23517, (757) 627-9172.

-The Boot: 123 W 21st St., Norfolk, VA 23517, (757) 627-2668.
-Make Your Own:
-5802 E Virginia Beach Blvd., Unit 115, Norfolk, VA 23502, (757) 459-2739. Great little shop with knowledgeable staff and a wide variety of products (check out their website if you didn't see something on display in the store, homebrewusa.com).

The Green Leafe
4345 New Town Ave
Williamsburg, VA 23188
757.221.9582

64 taps with a good variety of local brews, american micros, imports, and some standard domestics for those with a lighter palate.

I will second the vote for The Pub in Hampton, and for finding a good make-your-own six-pack, the Total Wine and Beverage right around the corner from my house in Newport News was great!

Like clallen I used to make my own six packs at the Total Wine in Newport News all the time. It's right on the corner of Warwick and Oyster Pointe near Blockbuster. Also the only place I knew of to buy kegs.

Harpoon Larry's at the corner of Armistead and Mercury in Hampton has a decent selection, as does County Grill in Yorktown on Rt 17.

In Norfolk... THese are my favorites, but there are more.

The Tap House (Ghent)
931 w 21st st
Norfolk, VA, 23517

Crackers
4226 Granby Street
Norfolk, VA 23504
757.640.0200

Empire
245 Granby Street
Norfolk, VA 23510
757.626.3100

Cogan's Pizza
1901 Colonial Ave
Norfolk, VA 23517

San Antonio Sam's
1501 Colley Avenue
Norfolk, VA 23517-1707
(757) 623-0233

Pretty much all of the bars on Colley have a decent selection. There are others down town, but I don't go down that way much anymore. Hells Kitchen and Mo and O'malley's are pretty good.

B.

Big fan of Cogan's and Taphouse, although...

Enjoy Taphouse much more in the warmer months, so you can sit outdoors.
