200 is what ive heard and works for me and my buddies pretty well

Yeah, I have yet to find reason for 200 being an issue. I also can't imagine its something terribly easy to prove anyone going over. I suspect the majority of the reason for the number is to reinforce to home brewers that it is supposed to be for personal use, not commercial.

Yes the actual law is like HomeBrewGuy says 100 gal per year per adult in the house up to a max of 2 adults. As far as getting caught it is like doing drugs.. it is not if it is when. Big brother is watching...

if i drink as i brew i may go over 200 and not even know it... i better be careful lol

I think it's 200 ngallons a year, but that's 40 5-gallon batches, a lot of brewing for the average homebrewer. I brew about 12 batches a year.
