The New Otani Hotel on the beach in Waikiki has a great dinner, with a great view, but with a great price with it! My personal favorite is Haleiwa Joe's, on the North Shore. For cheap good Mexican food, I'd recommend Cholo's, also in the town of Haleiwa. For an even cheaper meal on a budget, I'd recommend one of the many shrimp trucks which are along Kam Hwy on the North Shore as well.
Many of the exotic flavors and dishes have their origins in the thousands of immigrant laborers who came to Hawaii from the 1850s onward. Along with native Hawaiians, these Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Filipino, Portuguese and later Southeast Asian immigrants, all lent their influences to the evolvement of Hawaii?s regional cuisine.
