Favorite/Recommended experiences in Hawaii

Hey guys I'd like to start a thread to highlight some of peoples' favorite things to do in Hawaii -- not only to help possible vacationers to find good fun things to do, but to also steer people away from some bad experiences.


Oahu is my place of residence, so I'll start!

Our favorite things to do are...

1) The Honolulu Zoo down by Waikiki - it's right down by one of the most popular beaches on the island, so you can take a look around the zoo, and then switch gears, walk across the street, and go for a swim!

2) North Shore surfing - the entire North Shore of Oahu is filled with beaches, big and small, both popular and sparse - perfect really for anything you're looking to do. The best surfing is in the morning between 5-7 or 8 - if you just want to admire the scenery, you can go up there early and watch the tons of surfers that ride the waves every morning.

3) Sky diving! Yes, that's right, you can sky-dive right onto the island. The instructors are not only really friendly, but a lot of them have other a thousand dives, so you know you're in good hands...

hah yeah North Shore is definitely where it's at! In Haleiwa (pronounced Hal-ee-ev-ah), there's a TON of stuff to do. Tons of tourists, there, too, so you gotta pick the right time to go.

One neat thing I did while my familiy slept in was to drive up to see the Haleakala Sunrise on Maui. It was cold in the morning! The stars were incredible since you sit above the clouds.
