Good all-around off-road truck for Hawaii?

Alright, well, as it always goes, I'm in the market to buy my next project!

I'm very into Jeeps, so naturally I'm leaning towards one of those, but I'm not going to lie - I kind of want to try something different for this!

So I need some opinions of locals/guys who have wheeled here before. What's a good all-around truck to get for the wheeling of the islands (particularly Oahu)?

Hah I know I know! I've had 4 XJ's, 1 YJ, and 3 TJ's, so I'm looking to build something different possibly!

Then the only other way to go is an Early Bronco or a Early Model FJ. You will be disappointed with anything else.

Cant go wrong with a Toyota Tacoma. But pretty much any 4x4 gets the job done. Its mostly matter of your style Braddah

I've wanted a Scrambler for years man - I've only found one on the island that I was actually interested in - but it was all rusted through on the wells, and the guy was firm around like $10k. Needless to say, not worth it at all. But right when I'm back on mainland - I'm going to search the country! I'd drive anywhere and back to get me a good Scrambler...

You can never go wrong with an old cj. Weather supports simple vehicles, you can go anywhere, and the rain is non big deal, either.

I recall importing a mainland vehicle is pretty expensive.

Jeep!

I finally bought my first Wrangler out here...a real nice TJ (2000) with 4" suspension lift and 31" Mickey Thompsons! It's the perfect 4X4 for the islands. There isn't any place out here I can't get to with it and it's really nice to pull that rag top back and soak in a little Hawaiian sun!
