Hawaii Sterotypes

These are not controversial stereotypes! I'm just wondering if people can confirm or deny the following:

1. Hawaii is very expensive (living, eating, ect).

2. There are lots of Japanese people in Hawaii

I'd say yes and yes as well.

There's tons of asians in general. Koreans and Japanese, I'd say, are the two biggest groups, although there are quite a bit of Chinese, as well. I live on Oahu, so I can't speak for the other islands, however.

I noticed alot of asian as well when there.
The price of cigarettes was a bit of a shock, but it's to be expected if you figure that most everything has to be air lifted in.
Still not enough of a deterrent to keep me away from a return trip.

Yes, Hawaii has the highest cost of living! Our price for gas is probably the highest. One box of cereal can run $6.00 or above now!

And yes, as a Japanese AMERICAN, I can say that Hawaii has lots of Japanese people living in Hawaii, because Hawaii is closest state to Japan. But Sao Paulo Brazil has the most Japanese people living outside of Japan.

1.) Yes

2.) Yes

Extra's

3.) Hawaiians like fireworks. Really annoying around the holidays such as New Year's and Fourth of July. Random fireworks leading up to the holiday, then its like World War 4 on the holiday.

4.) Waianae is a little rough to live in if you are Caucasian varitey.

Nice place to visit, but man I hate living here. No offense meant to anyone, just my experience.

1.) Yes... with a caveat. After living there for a while you learn where to shop and for what. If you eat a normal diet like you do in the continental states, it's expensive. Having to ship milk and all the processed crap overseas is expensive. Buy local and it's just a little more expensive than the states. As for all of the other costs being higher (property, gas...), that's THE PRICE OF PARADISE.

2.) Hawai'i has a very large asian population, mainly Japanese. The native Hawai'ian and Japanese cultures have merged into the beautiful culture that it is today.
