Air Conditioner

Does anyone know why, even though my AC unit shuts off, the actual condensing unit outside will run all day all night? I literally have to pull the fuse to get it to shut off. It sucks. :-(

The fan will run when the compressor runs. Both are controlled by one or two contactors. Good chance it that one of these contactors is shorted together keeping your fan on even while the compressor is off.

Shut power off to the outside unit, pull the maintenance panel off and look at the contactor.

This is what they typically look like:

Ones that are shorted out are typically blackened.

Awesome! Thank you. What exactly will be black, the brass prongs?

It depends but when you have the service cover off you should be able to see some damage since the contactor will be stuck closed.
