How do you get rid of mushrooms in the yard?

I was raking my yard yesterday evening and I have a ton of mushrooms in my yard. I just moved to this house about 2 months ago from Seattle. That yard had moss galore but no mushrooms. This yard has a ton of them. So how do I get rid of them and what is causing them?

We have a lot of that on the eastside. It's caused by very fertile, moist soil, in most areas here because of the constant dropping of organic matter from trees and the rain. According to TV/Radio Master Gardener Ciscoe the best way to get rid of them is to practice your golf swing and shoot them into the street or neighbor's yard. There really isn't a treatment to kill or prevent them.

Oh Ciscoe, is there something he doesn't know?
I figured my soil was pretty fertile. My yard in Seattle never had mushrooms and a lot of moss. Now I'm in Bellevue and I have a nice yard, with mushrooms.

Don't complain, my lawn gets both mushrooms and moss!

At least there is a treatment for the moss.

I can't complain. My grass is so green and lovely. In Seattle I had a yard of weeds and moss with some grass mixed in.

Only time I get mushrooms over here is when we over-water. But we all irrigate, you 206ers get natural irrigation so not much control over that.

Here in San Antonio I get them one or twice year when we get a lot of rain in a short period. Makes me remember living in WA so I like them.
