Running phone line outside house
I'm switching from a POTS telephone service to VOIP, but the room that my router is in, does not have a phone line in it. This spring, I plan to run an Ethernet cable down to the basement to put a small switch there.
Until then, can I temporarily run a long phone cable out of the window of the room with the router and ATA, down the side of my house, and then back into a window downstairs, where there is a phone jack? Any issues with that other than aesthetics?
