The white staircase is really a great idea. If only I had stairs!

I know, I haven't had stairs the last 6 years but I expect to have some again and the space under them is rarely used well.

I always swore if I ever buy a house with a huge staircase, I would utilize that wasted space as a concrete lined bunker. To have a "safe" room with a steel door would work great with storing my guns and nice for the family to run to in case of a home invasion robbery, which is occurring much too often these days with the high unemployment and lazy thugs.

A safe room would be a good use but you will need to add support for concrete weight. I'd stick with a walk in gun safe.
Putting the safe room in the basement near where services enter your home might be better.

Out of curiosity I looked up the options.

I thought the saferoom labeled ICE was a nice touch.

The Home Theater isn't a safe room but if Fukushima & Chernobyl are omens of things to come it helps while away the half life of isotopes.
