Being a member of the American Red Cross, we have already submitted our annual paperwork so we are ready when needed to respond.

This will be my 2nd hurricane season here (lucked out last year minus all the rain). Anyways I just want to make sure I did the right thing last year

I was living alone (now with wife).
I bought about 20 cans of food and other dried foods
had 2 cases of water plus 2 gallon jugs
all important document were in an easy to grab case
Car was never less than 1/2 tank full
Lots of flashlights and batteries on hand, I also have a lantern.

In event of hurricane hitting:
Fill bath tub with water
Cover Windows (I live in an apartment so I'm not sure if management would do this?)
Keep blankets in car.

I know I should have had more cash on hand if I needed to leave or atms were down. I am sure I missed something as well.

Some things I need to get for this year:
More food/h2o as now wife lives here too
more dog food (now have a dog)
battery powered radio
More surge protectors for when power comes back on (we generally unplug everything in the event of a power outage but this is probably still good)

C&C encouraged. Thank you!
