The Galena area is very nice. Leaving Galana from the north end of town follow the Stagecoach Trail toward the town of Lena. Very pretty road with lots of twisties.

Shawnee Forect is nice in Southern Illinois. Several small state parks to enjoy as well.

if your talkin nature you can go just about anywhere when the sun is setting, its so flat you can see it all around, but if your talking about skyline, go on one of those night cruise boats in chicago and look back at the city, one of the most stunning architectural views there is anywhere

Starved Rock State Park - near Utica, IL. Up until you get to the park, you see little more than cornfields. Enter the park, and you're suddenly in a world of cliffs and canyons!

Palisades Park in Savanna, Il has high bluffs with some beautiful views of the Mississippi River. Great for hiking or just a nice car ride.

I am somewhat of a wino and we have some AWESOME vinyards throughout Illinois! Southern Illinois has SEVERAL on their wine trail and then there are others that you kinda need to know about to know where they are. There are fewer as you go north but there are still some beauties in central and northern Illinois as well
