Shipshewana is located in Amish country. Starting in April or May through October, they hold an outdoor flea market every Tuesday & Wednesday . Pokagon State Park near Angola is a beautiful place to visit.
Well you can do to deer park and pet deer. You can visit Amish acres and eat some good Amish food, you can go to the Studebaker museum in South Bend or even tour the University of Notre Dame they have a great church that is in the gothic style and painted on the inside like the Sistine Chapel. I can go on and on but that's what comes to mind right away, ohh and this is all in the northern part of Indiana
Ohh! I almost forgot You should come and see the college football hall of fame before they move it to GA. they plan on moving it in 2012 so make sure that's a stop as well it's in South Bend too
Snite Museum of Art on the Notre Dame campus!! Suggested donation of $3.00, we went in for about a half hour before the ND-Tulsa game Saturday (maybe we should have stayed in the museum!!) and it is an incredible value. Also ducked into the Basilica of the Sacred Heart (the church referred to above)--also worth the visit.
Yes winter is almost here, but give it enough time and Indiana will show you how we can end up having a blistering cold day, and then be in the high sixties the next day...
So if you like the winter but still miss the warm whether, you'll get a little of both
Yes, check out Brown County State Park. It's beautiful (especially in the fall with the leaves changing colors), you can camp there, hike, etc. Also great for road cycling (killer hills) and some of the best mountain bike trails in the Midwest, with different trails appropriate for riders of all different abilities.
Also, if you're in Brown County, head over to Nashville for some great shopping. There's also a small brewpub there (Big Woods Brewery) that has decent beer and amazing pulled pork nachos.
