Washington, IN. Area...

Somebody move this to 'South West Indiana' Please!
Since you don't have that, or an 'Evansville' or 'Vincennes' thread, I KNOW it's in the wrong place!

I'm an off road junky, love my little rusty Jeep,
Found several good places to trail ride and take nature rides around here locally.
If you are interested, and you are from the area,
Please post up a LOCAL landmark, (Not anything that would be on a big old map) and We'll have a discussion about when/where we wheel,
Where we go shooting,
Where we have parties/get togethers, ect.

If you know about 'High-Rock', you are already on the right track!

We do Redbird SRA quite often during the summer,
Redbird SRA - Home

We are located between RedBird to the north,
And Interlake to the south,
DNR: Interlake Property

And to the east/west we do river runs, mud runs, and generally find places to break things!

If you are a hunter, then this area is just what the doctor ordered!
HUGE fish and wildlife areas with every kind of game hunting you can think of, heavy on water fowl, and fisherman go crazy here!

SO! If you are from the area, or thinking about visiting close to this area, then post up here and I can point you towards some places to see and things to do that won't break the bank, give you good bang for your bucks, and won't bore you to death!

Just googled your town... You're was out there... straight east of Vincennes.

I've been out that way a few times.

Interlake is a LOT more spread out,
It's old coal mine 'Spoil Bank' land also...
(Spoil Banks are the overburden removed to reach the coal when strip mining.
In older times, they weren't required to put things back, now they make rolling hills, farm land, pasture, ect. out of the reclaimed land.
In the 50's and some of the 60's they weren't required to reclaim.)

This land is pretty useless for anything else, sinks, odd lakes, steep hills, mud pits, all the stuff off roaders live for.
Good place to go deer hunting also!

The old 'Spurgon' Pits (Spurgon is the closest town to Interlake) is now Interlake, and it's free to enter, you can camp on site if you feel like it, and it's pretty spread out, something for just about everyone...

4 wheelers (ATV's) like it in particular because there are long trails that don't do much stupid,
But there are challenging Jeep trails also.

Just down the road is Evansville, a pretty good size town where you can get about anything you want including pretty good food and strip joints!

Anyway, I'm what they call a 'Puddle Jumper' around here.
There are two basic types of people, Ridge Runners, which live in the hills of southern Indiana,
And Puddle Jumpers, which live in the river bottom lands.

Although you really can't tell the difference, we harass each other with the names pretty good...
And we have a good time with the 'Farm' equipment...
Here you can get away with murder if you have 'Farm' plates on your Jeep... Lots of modifications you can't get away with otherwise.
Bumper restrictions, tires hanging out of the wheel wells, stuff like that...

It's a pretty good time down here if you like knocking around in the dirt!
It's not how pretty your ride is here, it's how CAPABLE it is...
Chrome sinks in mud, gets hung up on rocks, just the same way scrap metal does, so don't worry about what your vehicle looks like, or if you have the 'Correct' camo or not for hunting,
Just show up and have a good time!
