Anyone recognize this lake?

It's a long shot but wondered if anyone knew what lake this is? The car, a 1935 Chevy, has California plates and I assume the lake is in that state. Any guesses or hard facts? Would sure appreciate any info!

I am going to give you a guess...

But honestly, It looks like Donner lake in Truckee.
I Googled it and i found a pic that is very similar. It was actually the first pic when you put in Donner lake in the search. The image is small, but the background looks the same. good luck! That's a good old pic!

I don't think it is Lake Tahoe, unless it is in a cove, because the other side of the lake really isn't visible due to it being so large. I myself believes it is a small lake in the Sierra's, based upon the pines and snow in the background. Donner Lake is a great guess...very similar topography!

Donner is a good bet. This photo has a very similar range in the background...far peaks with snow and a more rounded section near the lake. If you can imagine the point of view in this photo moving around the lake to the left it looks really close to a match. Plus, the power lines would make sense for Donner and it is right off a major highway. And there seems to be a dock or building near the water in the photo of question.

Well, after further examination I'm not so sure now. In the recent Donner photo the peaks are much closer to the lake than the peaks in the old photo...
Any other old photos of this lake in question?

Another hint; The shadows are pointing either east or west. Based on that, the power lines and road they are on are either on the southern or northern side of this lake and those peaks are north or south to the lake. The car is pointed almost dead north or south...depending on what time of day. Sun is low so it could have been morning or late afternoon.

Denie, I can sure see the simularities indeed. In looking at the scan, there is something to the far right at the edge line. Could be a dock or a shadow. Uncertain about it, but I'll look at the original again to verify it if possible. I'm going to ask my dad if he has any other photos of that trip! Thanks for the input thus far to everyone. We'll crack this at some point!
