Proof of small arms training in the Armed Forces is valid proof.

Come spring my wife and I are definitely going to a CCW class and getting our permits. It seems like for every step in the right direction for our 2nd Amendment rights some politician figures out away to take us backwards two steps. So we will definitely be enrolled.

I don't think we will go backwards on this issue. Of course it can be taken for granted that 99% of republicans support more lenient gun laws, but even most democrats over in our area (east side of the state) are in support of gun rights.

OK, I'm confused. I see several posts about taking a class to get a carry permit. The TV news stations were saying that there are no training requirements to get the permit. I do advocate training; though not required, I took a hand gun safety class in GA when I got my carry permit down there.

There is no range training required. A safety class is required.

Its a joke. The law didn't really change much. I have always carried a firearm and have never been hassled even by the cops. There are too many loop holes in the old and new law nothings needed unless you want to strap your shotgun on your back and go shopping at walmart. Before if you had a fire arm on you and they ask if you do, Just tell them yes and its not considered concealed carry. That and you are concealing it from the public to avoid a disturbance. Has worked for me and if you read the entire law you will see all the loop holes left open with exception of assault rifles.
