Hey yall, just thought I'd let ya know what we did this last weekend.
Momma an myself are members a the North Iowa CERT team (Community Emergency Response Team). We attended a search an rescue class on Friday night an then had a search and rescue exercise on Saturday.
Was cold an windy, but I think the whole team had a good day an learned quite a bit. Worked with our K-9 units an did to rescues.
We enjoy bein on the team alot. A good resource as we help out the area emergency agencies durin disasters an other emergencies when they get overwhelmed.
CERT is all volunteer an is a great way ta help out folks in the area.
Managed ta scare up a big buck in the woods as well as a wild turkey.
If ya get a chance ta join a local CERT team or just wan't ta know how ta take care of yerself an family in a emergency, check with yer local Emergency Manager. It be well worth it.

Oldcoot, do you know where someone could find more info on things of this sort? I would be interested in joining something like this, but not sure where to start. Thanks
Ya can also contact yer local emergency manager to see if they got a CERT team er some other organization in place. Ya can also start yer own CERT group to. A good organization an well worth the work it takes.
