Bonsia tree

I was wondering if anyone here has tried or is growing a bonsai tree. I have wanted one for years and now I think I'm getting one. I know it's tons of work and time go into these trees. And the cost of them alone is out there.

So who has one or tried one. And did yours die.

First a little back ground. Bonsai - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A guide. http://www.bonsaisite.com/index.html

A great forum.I am a member. http://forums.bonsaisite.com/

I have not tried to grow a Bonsai. It is not uncommon for your first few attempts to die.Picking the right plant for your local climate has a lot to do with how the Bonsai does. Also, they don't require as much attention as some people think. This is what I have learned after months of researching.

Congratulations if you can do it. I can't even grow a good stand of crabgrass.

I've got a lot of house plants but I haven't committed to a Bonsai yet.

I lived next door to a guy some years back that had tons of those things. I'm talking like 50+ of them. He made them from cuttings that he used a solution to get them to take root. He had given me one when I moved and I had it for a good while. I liked the tending. It really was calming. I actually thought that was BS before I had to do it.

It now lives with my X wife...I think. She kept it so but I really have no way to know what happened to it. It be a shame to have destroyed it but I"m sure I'm not the only guy to see the lack of logic that walks hand in hand with an X spouse.

I have about 80 of them right now, including this one that's 140 years old, a mountain hemlock from the coast of Vancouver Island BC. I have probably killed 8-10 over the years.

If you are interested, one forum that I moderate on is very popular with beginners: http://forums.bonsaisite.com/

Always wondered about these myself, but have never tried it. Seems like it would be relaxing
